PANOSETI's best friend, and mentor, was the brilliant Franklin Antonio, one of the founders of Qualcomm. Franklin generously supported the project, and his many insights (including some 400 many-paged and technically detailed documents) were foundational in bringing to fruition the beautiful prototype telescopes now operating at Lick Observatory.
Conversations with Franklin were always an experience. He seemed to have a bottomless well of knowledge. Franklin dedicated numerous hours in the lab, ironing out all the details, and notably, we were all having fun in the process. Many times we were astonished when some arcane and thorny technical issue arose, and Franklin not only knew all about it, he gave us a concise lecture, and a solution. Problem solved.
